Hi, Bruce. You are probably right about the drain on other PDA's My wife has a Palm and I think she needs to connect it at least once a week. Once she didn't connect it for two weeks or so and lost everything. They do back up pretty well with active sync so once you get the thing reinitialized and do another sync, everything is back.
