Marg,

If you have version 5.0 running on your BrailleNote, then go ahead and download
the .zip file, as long as its size does not exceed the remaining free space in
your Keysoft Systems Disk (but you would hardly encounter such a zip file from
those two sites). Once saved in your BrailleNote or a storage card, press F
from the Main Menu and type R for the Rename File option.
Select the drive and folder containing the zip file, hit ENTER on the said
file, and rename it with a .bks extension. If you wish to retain the name of
the file, then just press SPACE with dots 4-6 (READ with SEMICOLON) and type
.bks (on the BT, the period is dots 4-6, computer Braille). If you wish to
change the name as well, just remember that you should be typing in computer
Braille. Hit ENTER when you're done typing the new file name with .bks
extension, and type Y to confirm that you wish to change the extension.

To unzip the file, enter Keybook by pressing ENTER with BACKSPACE with B
(FUNCTION with 9), select the drive and folder containing the .bks file, and
hit ENTER on it. You will be asked for the destination of the unpacked
Bookshare book. Note that the BrailleNote sees .bks files as Bookshare files.
Select the drive and folder where you wish to place the unzipped file.
Next, you will be asked for your password, ignore that by hitting ENTER without
typing anything. You will hear progress beeps if speech is turned ON or ON
REQUEST as the file is being unpacked. Finally, you are asked if you wish to
delete the original .bks file. I recommend that you type N for no, to spare
you from having to download it again if something wrong happens. You can erase
that one in the File Manager when you're absolutely sure that the unpacked
file/s are OK.

Finally, Keybook will open the file for you. Since these files are in formats
foreign to Keyword, you will be asked if you wish to review the documents.
Type Y for yes, or if you wish to accept the settings for the already formatted
file, then just hit ENTER because N for no is the default. If you do not wish
to open the unpacked file, then press SPACE with dots 1-2-3-4-5-6 (Menu key) to
return to the Main Menu.

Note that if there are more than one file in the .zip file, the first one in
the archive will be opened by Keybook first. Also, if you get this error
message: "Cannot unpack Bookshare book, error code 202", then move the .bks
file to the root directory of the storage card it is in, if it's not yet there,
and try again. If that still doesn't work, move the .bks file into the Flash
Disk of the BrailleNote and try once more.
Depending on how the files were zipped, this work-around may not work, but from
experience with Gutenberg (and Braille.org) zip files, all are zipped with
normal compression and should unpack just fine on your BN. Any problems you
will experience following the instructions above on other .zip files should be
understood by keeping in mind that this work-around is not really intended to
be part of version 5 when PDI came out with this upgrade, but was only
discovered by a BrailleNote user, Aman Singer. Hopefully, we will have a
full-blown zip/unzip utility on the BN in future Keysoft versions.

HTH,
Roselle
