Lisa,
The file to which the Print to File option sends your document/database
record/web page is indeed entitled"Print to file.txt" (without the quotes). If
you emboss, it may be called Emboss to File; I'm not sure, as I Print, and have
never yet had the need to Emboss when using this method, but the items below
will still apply to you. Also, it shouldn't make a difference whether you
Print or Emboss if you intend to just have the emails in files on your BN to
read them as files. If you want to transfer them to someone, I would suggest
Printing and saving the "Print To/Emboss To File" file as a Text document, as
this will involve less translation between Braille and text, and therefore make
it less likely to contain errors of translation. On the other hand, if you
want to Emboss them or send the email as a Plain Braille File, embossing would
probably be better. See below for more info, but when saving the file with
SPACE with S (CTRL with S), when you've gotten to the "File Name" prompt, and
if you want to save it as another file type, hit BACKSPACE with X (CTRL with
X). OK, back to the file in question. I think the reason you may not be
finding it is that it's located in the root directory ("none" Folder (without
quotes) or"/"Directory (without quotes)) of the KeySoft System Disk, NOT the
Flash Disk. If you want to access it, when you're at the "Folder Name" prompt,
hit BACKSPACE, and when prompted for a drive, press K for KeySoft System Disk.
Then, type the word "none" (without quotes) for the folder (or a slash sign if
you're in Directory Mode) and hit ENTER. Then, if you hit SPACE to get a list
of all documents, you should see it. Note that you don't need to hit SPACE
with X (READ with X) to see this file, as it's not something like an HTML or
Database Definition file, so it's treated like a document you can readily
access in the List of Documents, as opposed to having to hit SPACE with X (READ
with X) to access the List of Files to be able to view and open it. Also note
that this file isn't created until you use the Print to File Option for the
first time, so it won't appear in the root directory of the KeySoft System Disk
unless you've Printed/Embossed to File. Treat the File port like you would any
other. I'm not sure what you meant by "selecting to print to this folder"
because, first of all, it's a file, not a folder, and second, you don't select
it, but it prints to this file automatically when the File port is set. When
you choose to print a document/database record/web page, you select the file in
the first option, and the current item is selected in the two latter cases
(unless you have marked email, in which case all marked items would be selected
to all go to this one file at once). If you have the port set to File, the
selected item will be printed to the file mentioned above. The only time
you'll see it is after you've used the option successfully for the first time,
and remember to select the correct drive. Also, remember to save the contents
of the "Print to File" file after you've printed something to a File, as the
contents will be overwritten each time you use the Print to File option. Also
remember to switch the Port back to whatever you were using to output to a
printer/embosser if you intend to output to these devices afterwards. Note
that you can access the Print/Emboss Set-Up Lists from several places; however,
this is the same list for every place, so changing it in one program will cause
the changes to apply to all programs, which means you don't have to change the
settings from a single consistent place. HTH.
Maria
