Diane, DO NOT PANIC. You've done absolutely nothing wrong, and this is just standard installation procedure for KeySoft. Just hit ENTER at the "Command Line?" prompt, and continue with the installation. Often, software needs a "Product Key" to "unlock" the software, which means that the Product Key is used to allow the software to run. This Product Key is implemented for copyright reasons, as oftentimes, software is designed only to run on a certain product signature. In your example, the fact that you entered your Serial Number on the Software Distribution Web site determined the copy of software you were going to receive; the Serial Number helped to construct software which would only run on a product with that unique Product Signature, the Signature being determined by the Serial Number of your unit. In the case of KeySoft, the Product Key is already built into the software, so you don't have to enter it. If you ever wasn't built in on any program, and you had to enter it upon installation, the Product Key would have been given to you in the documentation for that program. Also, in the Utilities Menu, the first option under the Key Management menu allows you to Enter a New Product Key. This can be useful. For instance, you don't know the Product Key for something, so you just hit ENTER at this field, and when trying to run the program, it doesn't work because the Key wasn't built in, and you had had to put it in. Now, you don't have to re-install the program. Instead, you can just look up the Product Key in the program's documentation, go to the Enter a New Product Key option, of the Utilities Menu, and enter the new Key, ensuring that the program will now run without you having to re-install it. FYI, the multilingual program, GPS program, and KeySoft 5.0 and 5.1 all have built-in Product Keys, so you can just leave this field blank upon installation. Regarding your question about whether you should go straight to 5.1, DON'T DO THIS. Version 5.1 was meant to be an upgrade to 5.0 and run on a machine with 5.0. The 5.0 will have the Media Player, Duxbury Braille Translator, Stopwatch, and Bookshare unpacking capability, while 5.1 will only have the improved Planner. This means that if you just went from 4.0x to 5.1, you'd only get the improved Planner and nothing else. Note, however, that with KeySync, you DO NOT have to install version 1.0 (the version that was released with KeySoft 5 which syncs with Microsoft Outlook's Contacts List) before version 1.1 (the version with KeySoft 5.1 that allows syncing with Microsoft Outlook's Calendar). If you've never used KeySync, and after you have installed version 5.1, you should just install KeySync version 1.1, as this version will still set up your system for both Contacts and the Calendar by checking for necessary Microsoft.Net components and then installing the whole program. If people had used KeySync 1 with KeySoft 5 and had now installed 1.1 with KeySoft 5.1, the program was basically installed, but the ability to sync the Calendar was just added to the existing program; that's why it wasn't suggested that you delete your old KeySync program, but rather install the new one "over top" the old. However, if you just install the new KeySync version without having installed the first one, the whole program will still install on your PC. Install KeySync 1.1 on your PC, if you intend to use it, and use it after installing 5.1 to your BrailleNote. First install 5.0 on your BrailleNote and then 5.1 to get all the features of these two releases. I would suggest not using the 5.0 Planner and moving right to the 5.1 Planner because the 5.1 is totally different from the 5.0, and if you weren't that familiar with the "old" Planner, I personally wouldn't see a point in spending time learning that one when, upon upgrading to 5.1, you would just have to re-learn a whole new application all over again. This was probably way more than you wanted to know, but I hope it helps. Maria
