Rui and Bob,

First, Bob, help = ayuda in Spanish, not aluda, <grin>. But I think in
Portuguese it's ajuda. Second, let's try to answer Rui's questions.

1. Yes, you can install the multilingual software for Spanish, Italian, German
or French, a combination of any of these or even all four. It will let you
type in computer Braille (I believe grade 1 also) in these other languages, but
not in their contracted Braille form. Not sure, and it's best to check with
your dealer, but the last time I checked the HumanWare price list, it's at 249
US dollars, not including shipping.

2. Relying on the Layout Mode for the way your document would look on paper
when embossed or ink-printed isn't so reliable. If you really want to see how
it looks, including margins and tabs, etc., do the following:

  a. Enter Keyword by pressing W from the Main Menu.
  b. Type E to Emboss, and S for the Setup Menu.
  c. Press SPACE with dot 4 (DOWN ARROW) until you get to "Embosser port".
  d. Once there, type F for File then press ENTER.
  e. Exit with SPACE with E (ESCAPE), press Y to confirm the changes made,
then type E to emboss. Select the drive and folder where your file is, then
press ENTER twice on the file. You will be returned to the Keyword Menu.
  f. Type O to open a document. Press BACKSPACE to change drives and select
the Keysoft Systems Disk. When asked for the folder, type none without
contractions. Press ENTER and then space through the files there, pressing
ENTER again on Print to File.txt.
  g. When asked if you wish to review the previous options, type Y for yes.
The first item asks if the file is a Braille or text document. Type B for
Braille, press ENTER then SPACE with E (ESCAPE) to open the document.
  h. Press BACKSPACE with dots 3-6 (DELETE key) twice, to delete two
extraneous characters (the null character and tilde). I don't know why the BN
puts them there at the top of the file, but it's harmless to erase them. You
can now see how the document will be embossed, including side margins and the
tabs will be converted to the actual size in spaces. Word wrapping will also
be shown properly.

Note that when you're ready to emboss the file, you must enter the Embosser
Setup Menu again (from the Main Menu, press W, then E, and S). Move to the
setting for "Embosser Port" and either type P for Parallel or S for serial,
depending which port you will use to connect your BrailleNote to your embosser.
Press ENTER before exiting and confirming the changes.

3. There are many possible reasons why you cannot mrint from your BrailleNote
using your HP printer. First, make sure that you have selected the HP Deskjet
and Laserjet printer drive in the Printer Setup Menu. If you haven't, type W
from the Main Menu, then P and S. Move to the setting for "Printer Type". By
default, it says, "Standard, change?" Type Y for yes, then press ENTER, and
SPACE to the available options, pressing ENTER on the file for HP.
Also make sure that you have the correct port selected. Further, try resetting
the BN before printing, and perhaps reset even the printer. If that still
doesn't work, try a different cable (this was what solved my printer problem
before).

Espero minha mensagem ajuda-o. Natal feliz e Novo Ano Feliz!
Or something like that, *smile*,
Roselle
