Also, Lisa, what do you mean you "can't figure out" Roselle's method? What,
exactly, can you not figure out, and what steps have you taken to perform
Roselle's method? Make sure you delete the database AFTER saving all the emails
you want to file. What you do is this: From the Main Menu, press F for File
Manager, then D for Directory You'll be prompted for a drive, so either type
in, or SPACE until you get to, the Flash Disk. Press ENTER to select it, and
at the prompt for a folder, either type in, or SPACE until you get to, KeyList.
You'll be asked for a file name, but before you do anything here, hit SPACE
once, so you see "List of all files in KeyList Folder", and press SPACE with X
once, so that you see "List of All, Including Hidden, Files in KeyList folder".
Once you've got the view of "hidden" files up, SPACE through the list until
you get to a file called email folders.cdb Hit BACKSPACE with dots 1-4 to
delete it, and confirm this by answering Yes to the prompt asking if you're
sure you want to delete. Now, to re-create your database: Select KeyMail from
the Main Menu. Select the option to read email, and select any folder. Note,
though, that you will only have the 7 default folders, namely "InBox",
"OutBox", "Sent", "Received", "All", "Drafts", and "Trash", and you will have
to re-create any of your personally created folders. However, you can create
them AFTER you re-create the database. Anyway, select one of the 7 folders,
and tap the ENTER key. You'll be told that the database called Email Folders
doesn't exist, and you will be asked if you wish to install one, so hit Y to
confirm this, and the new database will be in place. There won't be any email
in there, of course, and please note that you CANNOT restore those emails
you've saved to file back into the database because they are no longer in the
database format; the only emails you can have in your database are those sent
and received through KeyMail, as opposed to those saved to file. As the whole
purpose of you saving them to file was to get rid of them from the database,
this makes sense. Anyway, to re-create your personalized folders (the folders
that you create in addition to the 7 mentioned above, and that you give a
unique name to, much like a folder in KeyWord), get to any "Folder Name"
prompt. The easiest way is to receive an email; even if you write one to
yourself, and receive it using KeyMail, that's okay, because you can always
delete it. Once you've read this email from the InBox and pressed SPACE with E
to exit it, you'll be asking which folder you want to move it to. Type in the
name of a folder you wish to create; the only folder which you will be able to
access if you SPACE through is the "Trash" folder if you haven't created any
yourself. After typing in the folder, tap ENTER. You'll be told that a folder
doesn't exist, and asked if you wish to create one, so press Y, and the action
will be taken. To create more, you can go to your created folder where you've
moved this email, open the email' select the Email Action Menu by pressing
SPACE with dots 2-6, and selecting the option to "Move an Email", at which
point you follow the same procedure above. You can keep on doing this until
you've got all your folders created. I also sent you another post before this,
so that I could get clarification on your third question of how exactly you
search through a folder for emails (the steps you take). I don't know why the
email problem you mentioned in your first question occurred, but it could've
been some type of corruption with your database if you did something to
interrupt, for example, the insertion of fields from KeyMail to modify the
Email Printer Template if you had wanted to (part of Roselle's method on saving
emails). Hope this helps, and I hope I will be able to help you with your
remaining questions once I get some clarification back from you. Thanks.
Maria
P.S. You had sent out another post, which I had meant to answer, but had just
never gotten around to it. I thought all your questions had been answered with
the exception of the one about searching through emails, which is the one I'm
trying to get clarification on. However, I just remembered that you had asked
one more question in that post, which hadn't been answered, so I'll answer it
now. You had asked why the Grade indicators were not in Appendix B of the User
Guide on Format Indicators. This is because this Appendix only covers format
indicators you can search for and use to replace anything with, and as you
can't use the Grade indicators at the Find or Replace prompts. I also just
thought of a suggestion for your Find problem. Are you typing your search
strings in Computer Braille? You must do this in order for the text to be
found. HTH.

>Hello Listers,
>I have some miscellaneous questions and concerns. I hope someone will be kind
>enough to help me please.

>1. Earlier yesterday I couldn't get my BN to download email. I got the
>message about connecting to the pop server and it would stay like that for
>hours. I eventually went to bed and got up later to try and call tech support
>and the email was working fine. I spoke to Earthlink when it wasn't working
>and they didn't know what was wrong ed told me to talk to the BN tech support
>staff. Any ideas here? Thanks. My Internet access and the capability to send
>email were working fine during this weird email problem.

>2. When the email problem occurred I thought I'd have to delete my email
>database. I forget how to do this. May I please have instructions on this
>procedure? Thank you?

>3. Since I was going to delete my email database I needed to save all my info
>in my email folders. I saw a post from Roselle about a way to save all emails
>in a folder at once or something but I couldn't figure out how to do it.
>4. I tried forwarding my emails from the folders to myself. I had to open
>every single message before the BN would forward it. Is this normal? If so
>this is incredibly tedious.

>5. I was trying to delete some of my emails in the inbox by using the find
>command. The BN refused to find the simplest subject lines and names leaving
>me to weed out every single email. Maybe my BN needs a good reset.
>I tried the 3 different types of resets on the BN when the email downloading
>problem occurred and the resets didn't help.
>Thank you for everyone's help and time.
