Maria, You're right with the instructions on solving the ghost e-mail problem that a number of BN users have experienced. In Richard's case, however, and thank goodness he's solved it based on what he said he has done because I'm part of another list he's on where the repeats are also happening LOL, is that he had messages queued in the Outbox, then he made a backup of his e-mail database before sending those messages since he was having Keymail problems. Even though he has sent those e-mails already, which explains why he has no messages in the Outbox when he checks, every time he has Keymail problems and needs to restore the database, he keeps loading back into the BN the one he had backed up, which of course had the old e-mails that were queued in the Outbox when he did the backup. Thus, these messages got re-sent with every e-mail session after the restoration of the backup copy of the e-mail database. Just a caution to Richard and everyone, if you can, send all your queued e-mails and empty your Trash folder before making a backup of the e-mail database.
But the problem you've described, Maria, is indeed happening every now and then to people, especially after an extensive e-mail session involving the download and sending of mail and folder management. However, even if there are x number of ghost e-mails reported in the Outbox, and you apply the fix you wrote about, only the e-mail you sent to correct the problem gets sent, not the ghost e-mails. Richard's repeated postings were definitely not ghost e-mails, though they gave people on this list and that other list I mentioned the spooks, <sheepish grin>. Sometimes my BN would say that there was, >for example, 1 email in the OutBox, and it would ask me if I wanted to send >it; however, when I looked in the GhtBox, it would say that there were no >messages. What I do is to actually write an email, but not using the "reply" >or "forward" option in the Email Action Menu. I actually go into Write an >Email, write an email (usually to myself if I don't have an email to write to >anyone at the moment, because I just want the problem fixed, and don't really >care if I just get one from myself, as I can always delete it), and send it. >When the BN actually sends an existing email in the OutBox, that seems to >clear it up. What I mean by that is that it sends out an email I've checked >is actually in the OutBox. I know you said you think you've fixed this >problem, and I hope this is the case. I'm not sure if the two of us are tal king about the same thing, but if we are, and it happens to you again, that's what I do, and it always works for me. I believe the reason for this is if you delete emails directly from the All folder, as this is a compilation folder, and you should only delete emails from folders you yourself have created.
