[Braillenote] entering local phone numbers in directory of services

Hi Listers,
It has been several months since I have had to add a record to the directory of 
services one that requires a phone number.  I cannot remember for local phone 
numbers are the area codes required? If they are do they get put in parenthesis 
and then a space before the rest of the number? Sorry I just cannot remember.
