[Braillenote] using BN with a DOS machine

I assume that one can share files between the BN and aDOS machine through
their serial ports?  Having trouble.  The parameters agree:
baud rate 38400; 8 data bits; parity none; 1 stop bit.
Handshaking is softwre.
Cable is null modem.
I'm attempting to use the options in the translations menu to connect with
the DOS machie.
Communications program used with the DOS box is Commo.
