You won't lose anything in there.
Generally, the battery goes "low" at about 10 percent. Usually, if the gauge
is accurate, that gives you about two hours. Battery Critical, again if the
gauge is accurate, should show up at somewhere between 3 to 6 percent. Yes,
the battery has a memory. I usually let my battery get to about 10 percent.
Some people like to totally discharge the battery, but I generally don't.
