Removing the parallel port, or any other port from the Braille note
family is not a good idea. A lot of people have hardware devices such
as braille embossers that need serial and parallel ports. The cost for
new braille embossers, even if they have USB ports is prohibitive for
someone to buy a new one. Blue Tooth may or may not work with speech
on a laptop, so you don't want to rely on that with Active Sync to
transfer files.
