Dear Lisa, The only way to read books in grade 1 braille is to translate the grade 2 books into text. Then change your preferred reading grade to 1. If your student reads mostly grade 1, then you could set the default preferred reading grade to 1for him or her. But I would encourage him or her to learn grade 2 and rely less and less on grade 1 braille. It may take a year and a half to learn grade 2, but your student will find it invaluable.
