Lisa,
If you don't have or use a pc, then you don't need a card reader.  They are for 
the pc.  If you want to put compact flahs cards into the side slot on your 
unit, you need a pcmcia adaptor.  Then you could put the card into the adaptor 
and slikde it into that side slot.  If you also want to have a card in the back 
slot, just buy two CF cards and stick one in there without any adaptor.
