At the "File Name?" prompt, the default type of file you can enter are "KeySoft 
Files".  At the "File Name?" prompt, hit [SPACE with X], [READ with X] which 
will display the current view, "KeySoft Files", by prompting, "Entry type? 
KeySoft Files".  Type the command again, and you'll see, "Entry type? All 
Files", and now you can type in the file with the .txt extension, using 
Computer Braille if on a BT or PK.
