I'd agree with this.  That's probably one good reason to go with a cf card of 
higher capacity if you can afford that.

The microdrive is really good for storing files such as books etc., but for 
something that runs in real time, the cf card is probably preferable if you 
have it.

If not, the microdrive works very well, especially if you don't insist on 
loading maps for several states at one time.

It's really a question of personal preference and what you want to accomplish.
