Hi, If you have the Nokia 3650 and are trying to use the infrared port to connect to the phone's modem, you do need to activate the infrared on the phone, but, as was stated in another message, you need to do so using the modem connect via infrared. To do this, you need to go into the menu on your phone, locate "connectivity", within that, choose modem (probably the 3rd of 3 choices), and then connect via infrared.
Just activating the infrared only won't work. Next, you need to set up yoru directory of services entry and dial the correct number for the gprs network. For at&t wireless and apparently also for Cingular wireless, this number is *99# and that's the number you put in the phone number field. If you have a different cell phone carrier, that number may be different but you should be able to get it from your provider of cell phone service. I have had a phone connected this way with at&t wireless quite successfully although not the 3650; but this is the general procedure you use. If you let us know the name of your cell phone provider, we may be able to help further. Don
