Hi all,
Warning, warning, warning homonym hop toad on the loose, homonym hop
toad on the loose!!
John, you don't want to buy a "rooter" that's a garden tool I believe,
used to root out stubborn weeds. What you want is a "router" a device
that sends packets of information to various network nodes on a
network. Some folks do pronounce route as root, thus the appearance
of the hop toad. To avoid future confusion, you may want to switch
your pronunciation to make the word sound more like how it's spelled.
It's not a long O like in Hoot or toot, it's pronounced ou like ouch
or couch. It's a router.
Your homonym hop toad has just croaked in the middle of your message
and caused it to change its meaning totally!
HTH,
Ann P.
Coming soon, a small pamphlet for the use of anyone who is afflicted
with a plague of homonym hop toads. Watch your email for the
announcement.
