Dear List,

I am posting this message to answer the origianl question about overwriting
text. I believe the original poster has a QT keyboard and no QT users have
answered this question so far.

As far as I know, there is no overwrite mode for the QT keyboard. You can
delete the characters by using control m to delete the previous character,
control comma or the delete key to delete the character under the cursor and
control with period to delete the next character. You can also delete words
by using control j, control k and control l to delete previous current or
next word.

I've gotten so used to insert mode that I don't think I'd _want an overwrite
mode. I think it's a dangerous mode because you can delete extra data while
you're typing in new stuff.

What I would like to see is a way to automatically switch from upper case to
lower case. For example, suppose you typed some text with caps lock turned
on and you want to change the text to lower case without having to retype
it. If you had such a command, then you could block the text and use the
switch command to change the text from upper case to lower case.
