Hi Beth,

Yes, that's correct.  If, at any time, you wish to hear the current character, 
you would press [SPACE with dots 3-6], [READ with COMMA].  However, with 
something like a slash, which would always be spoken as "st" if you read the 
current character, regardless of whether you put the dot 4 in front of it, use 
[SPACE with dots 2-5], [READ with K] to read the current word, and if the slash 
is read as an "st" sign, you would then know you needed to fix it.
