Hello list,
I placed a Microsoft Word File into my BN. When I attempted to open it, I
got a gong chime sound then some kind of word Pad message that the file I
was trying to open didn't fit the specifications of 1995-1997 MSW program
file I would say! This of course is an improvement of silence we use to
get, but was surprised to get this alert! I understood 6.1 was to better
handle newer versions of MSW. I was then presented with options but
couldn't see them at all! My BN soon started beeping! I hit enter and my
unit said opening file, please wait! I waited for some minutes but my unit
kept beeping! I could only reset my unit to get out of that mess! I tried
it twice! I then opened the file with Openbook and I could read it
there. I converted it to .rtf and my BN could read that okay! I sent it
to myself so I could retrieve it on the BN through Email. The BN said the
message was too large to download so changed the size of post i could
download and managed to get the file. I'm wondering whether others have
encountered this and how often might this happen with MSW files? Of
course, the file may have been converted from an .SLX file so that may have
caused the problem as well, I really don't know! Thought I'd bring it to
your attention for what it is worth!
