Doug: You probably won't be able to find this type of card at your local electronic store. This is a card that is normally sold ONLY by PDI although one of the list members found this low powered Ethernet card elsewhere.
You will need a router if you want to use both your computer and the BrailleNote on the network at the same time without resetting the modem each and every time. I use a cheap Linksys router (available at your local electronic store) and have my VoiceNote cable with the VoiceNote Ethernet adapter plugged in and just simply slip the card into the machine when I want to use it on the internet at high speed. When you buy this router, you may want to think about spending a few extra bucks and getting an 802.11b compliant wireless router which will allow for both the wireless and wired variety of connections. Remember that the new 6.1 update is going to support wireless connectivity and then you will only need to be within a couple hundred feet of the router when you want to connect at high speed. However, if you think you want to connect wirelessly, you may want to wait until 6.1 has been released and get a wireless card for your VoiceNote which is a separate device from the currently available low power Ethernet cabled variety. . hth Jeff
