Keith,
I have made it a practice to always save and backup documents in the
Braillenote in at least two ways; 1. Keyword, and 2. RTF or Word or ASCII
format readable on most PCs and some note takers. As Susie Stageberg points
out, Keyword formats won't read on the Pac Mate.

It is my guess that RTF or Word or ASCII format will read fine on the Pac
Mate. It would be best to call the FS help desk to confirm this. Hope that
you get your Braillenote back soon.

Sincerely,
Jerry Weinger

Subject: [Braillenote] BrailleNote and Pac Mate

I am needing to send my Bn Bt in for cleaning and a (hopefully) minor
repair. However, in my three jobs, I need a portable notetaker while mine
is away.

I am usually able to borrow a BrailleNote from a company through which I do
some contracting, but their machine is out on loan. They will loan a Pac
Mate to me, but I am wondering if the Pac Mate will read KeyWord documents,
or whether I will have to transfer all necessary files to Microsoft Word or
to text.

Any progress on the loaner program through PDI that was discussed a few
months ago?

Keith
