Just to clarify, with earthlink, you should use the following servers for email:

pop.earthlink.net for incoming mail (receiving)

smtpauth.earthlink.net for outgoing (sending). On Tue, 26 Oct 2004 04:49:30

These are the servers I'm currently using.

Mail.earthlink.net used to work for both, but not sure if that is still the
case. I've also heard that authentication is now or soon will be required for
all earthlink
mail, so it's probably a good idea to use the authentication server and it
doesn't hurt anything anyway.

Hello All:

I used to have Earthlink as well and seem to remember their sending out an
email saying certain settings had to be changed. I'm pretty sure it was in
the names of the pop and smtp servers and we had to start using
authentication. You might want to check with Earthlink to see what recent
changes they've made. Another friend of mine has also stopped being able to
send and receive. So I am investigating and will report back.
