John, Not in the uk, so can't speak directly to your problem, but it definitely sounds like you need to get the name and any required parameters for a server using authentication from your provider. The symptoms sound exactly like the problem I had here in the U.S. with earthlink. Once I switched to their smtp server with authentication I was able to send mail without a problem.
The trick is not just the authentication server name, but also to find out what specific parameters is required with the server. In my case it was the login name and password so it wasn't a problem, but apparently different isp's handle this in slightly different ways so it's a good idea to check it out. I use a nokia 7610 and if I use email it receives but will not send. my pop3 is o.k but the smtp is post.demon.co.uk but as I connect from the mobile via gprs it should be another smtp server so I tried loads and none works. thanks for the help. ___ To leave the BrailleNote list, send a blank message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To view the list archives or change your preferences, visit http://list.pulsedata.com/mailman/listinfo/braillenote
