If you're asking us what kind of arrangements your cable company has
for dial-up, we can't possibly answer that question. I know that Road
Runner has phone dial-up, but I don't know anything about your
individual cable company, Matt.
If, on the other hand, you think that since you are on cable you can't
get email, this is entirely false.

Why would you want an external modem when the BrailleNote has one
already? Yes, modem equals phone connection. Phone connection,
unless you mean cellular phone, needs a phone wire to connect.
