Hi there Olesgun,
The only way to get these signs not to show up as "less-than" and such is to 
switch your preferred text reading grade to 6-dot braille.  The tradeoff is 
that now, all words will appear in uncontracted braille.  So, I suppose which 
is the least bothersome to you is the way to go.  Lol.  HTH, Laura
