It can take 10 to 12 hours to run discharge the battery with the speech on, and 
probably considerably longer with just the braille display.

What I've done here is to turn on speech and crank the volume up reasonably 
high and then put the braillenote out in the garage for "the duration".  I 
suspect it also flattens a bit faster if you can have the volume turned up a 
bit, but you still have to live with it.  <smile>
