I had not really noticed any significant difference between ActiveSync 3.7
and 3.7.1 either. I'm not sure about the window issue - have you tried
just refreshing the open windows? I often find this helpful. I did
notice a fix in ActiveSync 3.7.1 wherein your explorer setting to open in
the same window was at last honoured (it was not previously) and another
small fix concerning the cut and pasting of files would move, not copy as
previously. Apart from that, I suppose there is no real benefit - I
happened to stumble over the later version when browsing the MS site for
Embedded. There was an interesting problem where Window-Eyes would crash
when you copied a file into your synchronised files folder using
copy+paste but this seems to also have gone away; I think this was a
Window-Eyes fix, though.
