Total Recorder does cost, I believe it is about $25.00. If you had a microphone connected to your sound card, you could record yourself reading and afterwards connect it to your cassette recorder through a patch cord connected to the "line out" jack of your sound card. However, you could simply plug a microphone into your cassette recorder and record your voice that way. A lot fewer steps.
