Hi all,
I chose the BrailleNote, after the same amount of research, because it
has an integrated Braille display. Why bother yourself with two
separate pieces of equipment which could break. If the Braille
display breaks, you're out of Braille. If the main unit breaks, you
have Braille, but all your notes have gone to Hell in a hand-basket.
Why be aggravated by trying to keep track of two units.
It has a good word processor that is seamlessly integrated into MSWord
and needs no elaborate translation to make documents printable or
embossable. It uses the Duxbury translator for its Braille. I wanted
a notetaker. You can't take notes or write docs if you haven't got
the right tools for the job, and if you have to muck about with two
different word processors. I'm a writer. I need to write easily, and
without fuzz. I don't need to try to figure out which word processor
I need to use for what document.
It can be used to retrieve email and go on the web. It has an
excellent planner. Finally, it has a GPS program that is robust and
has years of development behind it instead of just months.
I wasn't interested in bells and whistles. I wasn't interested in
trying to make my notetaker behave like a PC. I don't currently have
need of wireless support, although I'll be thrilled to get it when it
comes out.
