Great News!
Thanks Jonathan, I knew you could use the BrailleNote as a Braille display
but hadn't taken onboard the writing capability.

I've got myself a USB to serial converter for my lap-top so I will have a
go. I currently use the on-board serial port to run my Dolphin Apollo 2
speech synthesiser so haven't had a spare port to connect the BN before.

Hi Ian. Actually HAL has had this feature for a good couple of years now. 
You can input from your BrailleNote in eight dot computer Braille. Jonathan
