Word has this feature where it tells you how many replacements it's made;
Duxbury does not, so it's not universal. I like to know, too; as you say, if
the number is way off I have committed an error of some sort. The spell checker
tells you how many words it's found that it doesn't know; it's not
life-or-death, just fun to know.

Subject: [Braillenote] number of replacements

After doing a global replace, is it possible to find out how many
replacements occurred? If so, how? If not, would anyone else find this a
useful addition to Keysoft?

I often clean up or re-format files by using find and replace. In
Megadots, a program which announces the number of replacements which have
occurred in such an operation, I find the number extremely useful,
especially where a number is so large or small that it tells me things did
not work out as I had hoped. Of course, when I have entered the search and
replace strings correctly, and the number of replacements is large, I get
that feeling of satisfaction which comes from having accomplished a lot
with relatively little work: something about working smarter rather than
working harder. <smile>
