Hi Gary,

The answer to both questions, regarding whether or not BrailleNote family
products can be made to run as a terminal, or whether third-party software
can be made to assume this function on the BrailleNote, is, I'm afraid to
say, in the negative. This does seem to have been a much-requested
feature in the past. The only hope that remains is in PulseData's SDK, as
yet unreleased to the general public for consumption, that would let
someone with sufficient interest (myself included, and for more than just
serial terminals but also telnet and maybe even SSH sessions) to write an
application that can run on the BrailleNote. This SDK is not due for
release until PulseData complete the launch and rollout of their latest
KeySoft software release, but you can be assured that, in the absence of
interest from others to develop such a program, I will certainly consider
it high up on the list of much-needed features for development and that,
furthermore, you will be able to use it for free. The SDK is necessary so
that functions specific to BrailleNote, such as braille and speech, can be
utilised by application programs.

Cheers,
Sabahattin
