Don't forget that smtp is for sending, but pop is for receiving. so if receiving is slow, you might need to change that as well. Sarah, you might post what the pop address is for earthlink that you have as well.

Here's a suggestion, even though I don't have 6.1. I do have Earthlink. Try putting in the SMTP:

mail.earthlink.net

Again, I don't know if it will work, but at least it's worth a try. It's what I use unless I'm going through my highspeed cable, which is another isp.

Subject: [Braillenote] Earthlink

I hate to post this question again, but ...
If any of you have Earthlink, and have 6.1, I installed it for a lady in New York last night. I did the Connectivity setup, and showed where she was using an Ethernet card. She's not using wireless. It took 10 minutes to download 11 E-mail, and took almost five minutes for her to send a test message to me. Any ideas how I can help her get E-mail faster? When I entered the smtp server as auth.earthlink.net, nothing happened. When we changed it back to smtp.earthlink.net we could at least do the E-mail, though it was really slow. Thanks for any help.
