Hi, Jeff.
Keep in mind that the range of any network is altered by many things
including the equipment you're using, where you place the equipment, how the
building or outside area you're using is configured, what materials are used
in construction, etc. However, there is, to the best of my knowledge and
belief, no reason for 11G to have a greater range than 11B. If you have a
site which states this and/or gives a reason for it, I'd appreciate hearing
of it, as I have a B network and am considering switching to G. Further, I'm
getting a relatively low signal in certain rooms. If G would raise this, I'd
love to hear of it.

Subject: I stand corrected: [Braillenote] 80211.b vs. 80211.g
Hello List:
I checked out both of those sites mentioned and you are correct on the
frequency range. I apologize for the misinformation. However, speaking
from personal experience, the range on 802 11.b networks are MUCH less than
those of the 802 11.g variety.
Thanks for the correction
Jeff Molzow
