Actually, in a sense a type of insurance coverage is offered with the BN. It's called a service contract. <smile> It's one of those things that you have to decide whether it's worth purchasing or not, based on how likely you think it is that your BN will need servicing. I like to keep one on my unit, just because if something major goes out on it, it'll be covered. But there are times when nothing happens to it, and I've spent the money for nothing. I'm probably a bad girl, but I don't send my unit in every year for cleaning like I probably should. I'd miss it too much. So I just send it in when it needs servicing or upgrading, which has only been twice in four years. I don't know how much a thousand pounds is in American money, but it sounds like a lot; so if you can afford it, it might be a good idea to get a service contract.

Hi list well at last I have my braille note back and working but I feel some kind of insurance cover should be provided when making a purchase of this special equipment. my bill came to just over one thousand pounds which some of it has been paid by my home insurance. I love my braille note and think it has changed my life in the gps aspect and my work aspect but as a totally blind person I do think we pay a lot for our special computers. This is no criticism of pdi who let me borrow a braille note while my braillenote was being repaired. bye for now.
