Hi, folks: I've been off the list for a bit, but I'm back again. I'll explain what happened, and I'll tell you what I'm doing now, as far as a BN is concerned. On January 30, my BN crashed big-time. It had been giving me trouble for about three weeks to a month, but, with the assistance of Rhonda Clark, I'd always been able to pull it out of the fire. That day, however, it froze up, as I was closing the email menu. After waiting for it to right itself on its own, I did a reset, at which time, I got a message, which said that I should re-insert my storage card. I hadn't had a storage card in there, but, since I had a CF card, and since that had worked in the past when I'd had trouble, I put it in, took it out, and did a reset. I was informed that an error had occurred in formatting the flash disk. I did a d-e-f reset, and, after going through everything, did a simple reset, at which point, I was informed that an error had occurred in reading the flash disk. Since then, the flash disk has shown up, with no folders, and access to it is denied. Therefore, it will be on its way to Concord, CA., for repair. I am now using a Braillenote 18, with a 3.03 upgreade. Yep, that's what I said; 3.03! According to the serial number, it was manufactured in April, 2002. It was loaned to me by a group, here in Pennsylvania, called PIAT. (I think it stands for Pa. Initiative on Assistive Technology, or something like that.) Anyway, although this little guy is old, I'm sure glad to have it. I'll tell you this much: using this makes you realize just how far the BN has come, in just three short years! For one thing, the Flash Disk only has a bit over eight million bytes for capacity, instead of the over 16 million byte capacity we enjoy today. Also, the sending part of email is much, much slower than it is today. and of course, having the old motherboard, you can't do the Internet. We've come a long way, in three years. Well, I just thought I'd share this stuff with you guys. Have a great day. God bless. Bob and Maxy-wax
