Hi Paul, On 1 Dec 2004 at 21:59, Paul Holliman <[email protected]> spoke, thus:
> Has any PK user ever seen error 501, Syntax Error in Parameter when trying > to send an email please? I've checked all details for my connection etc and > all the fields of the mail look ok, so what's error 501 caused by? I'm not a PK user. Error 501 is produced by your SMTP service. It means "Syntax error in parameters or arguments" - see RFC 2821 section 4.2.2 or 4.2.3. So, the issue is with what your PK is sending to your SMTP service. About the only things I can suggest are to heed Dean's message and make sure the email address in both your account setup and in the "To:" field of your message (i.e. the one you type the recipient email address into) are absolutely correct (although this is a last suggestion since neither error is responsible for the 501 error condition). If you need the use of a relay SMTP service as a workaround as suggested by Dean, assuming it resolves your issue, let me know and I'll be more than happy to provide one. You will need to establish a username and password with me (off-list) which you can then use to authenticate your submissions through my service.
