If the list isn't set up to receive attachments, how did the .brf copy of 
the calendar get through? Or at least it came through on my end, anyway.

You cannot send attachments to the list!!!!!!
The Dean disabled attachments as a precautionary measure against
viruses....
this has been stated a number of times. The Braillenote list doesn't
accept attachments. this is why no one is getting them.
