Dear List,

At first I couldn't think what was meant by a thumb drive. Then I
realised that here in South-Africa we simply call them memory sticks. I
have the same scenario as Andy and also regularly uses my 128 mb thumb
drive, or USB memory stick and it's very handy, because it doesn't
require any extra cables or software; you just plug it into a USB port
on the pc and it's treated as another drive.. Unfortunately you cannot
use it with the bn, due to the USB connection. Per chance I also know
that you cannot use it directly with the pac mate, although one can if
you obtain some kind of adapter, as the USB port on the pac mate is a
mini USB.

It's much more generally available here than cf cards and about the
third of the price. The one that has the most storage capacity I have
heard of, takes 2 giga byte, but they come in sizes as small as 32 mb.

Because I have dial-up at home, and access to a T-1 conection at work, I
download large files on the work machine, transfer them to the thumb
drive,
and bring it home and transfer them to my machine at home via the thumb
drive.

Andy
