Hi mary-ellen. The hardware modem in the BrailleNote is pretty solid
actually, and any issues with speed aren't likely to be modem-related.

[Braillenote] Back on board:

Hi, Guys!
I got off the list on Thursday because of the traffic generated by the bn
list plus a couple of other lists I was on was really slowing the bBraille
Note down and Iwas absolutely paranoyed it was going to crash before we
got the laptop running.
Well the bn did not crash and is enjoying a vacation from e-mail andit is
in extremely good shape despite the punishment it has been through in the
last year.
Anyway I'm glad to be back and would like to see the browser run just a
bit faster which bring me to a question.
If I bought a pcmcia modem would that make the bn run any faster? I was
amazed even with the ethernet cardhow toward the end of my time with the
bn being the only computer working how almost bogged down the thing was
getting and I was only averaging about 45 e-mail messages every 12 hours
or so. I thought, "My gosh what do these people who travel and get say 350
messages a day do?
Anyway, the ibm is behaving itself so hopefully the bn can settle back in
its role asthe primary gps system in this house.
TTFN!
Mary Ellen
