Hi Sandi,

Well, I'm certainly no expert, especially with running things under win 98 as
it's been a long time now.

After you installed activesync were you able to successfully connect to the bn?

If not, it may be that the actual install process is not complete.

You didn't mention whether your scanner is connected via serial cable, scsi
card or whatever.

Also, if you are using something like Kurzweil K1000 or openbook, there should
be an option within that program to select the particular scanner you want to
use. Does your scanner, or any scanner for that matter, show up there?

If you haven't allowed activesync to find and connect to your bn, I'd really
suggest doing that. Once that's done, you could go into the activesync
connection settings and unchedk things such as infrared, usb, and whatever else
doesn't apply to your situation.

If you are able to get activesync operating properly with your bn and you still
have the scanner not found problem, maybe trying an uninstall of activesync
would be worth a shot.

I've never had a problem with activesync myself and I use it on an xp home
system and have used in with my old win98 systems, but, as I said earlier,
it's
been quite a while since I had win98.

Also, if you do uninstalls and/or installs, it's really a good idea to reboot
the pc before you panic. I've seen a lot of really strange looking errors when
I forget
to do that myself, so just a suggestion.

Hopefully this will be of some help.

Good afternoon everyone,
I installed activesync on my windows 98 computer a couple of weeks ago.
I haven't really messed with it at all.
But now my computer is showing that I don't have a scanner hooked up to it.
I have checked all the connections uninstalled and re-instlled the sdanning
software.
I am wondering if anyone else ever had a problem after installing activesync.
I also am thinking about uninstalling active sync and see what happens.
Any thoughts from the experts.
Sandi
