I have found that the BN can handle MP3s recorded at 192 KBPS, but no higher bit rate.
128 KBPS seems to work fine as well.

Hi Josh.  I think the braillenote with Keysoft 5.1 can only play MP3S that
are created at a certain bitrate of 128 bps.  I am not sure they will play
otherwise.  This is what some other brailleNote users told me to keep in
mind when using the MP3 player.  Hope this helps.

according to audio converter mpeg2 on or off doesn't make a difference in
the size of the mp3. good thing i baught another 512mb card a few minutes
ago off amazon.com.
I think I'll never use activesync again!!
