That worked with most of them but I can't delete key list or dictionaries that are on the compact flash. therefore I can't delete the folder, which is the same name as the directory. the directory has the slash in front of the directory name. When I backed it up to the compact flash disk I didn't specify a directory but it was there anyway. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Maria Kristic" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Braillenote List" <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, April 24, 2005 12:08 PM Subject: Re: [Braillenote] Trying to back up files:

Select one layer at a time as you would just the one layer in Folder List View (the default; that's why you see "Folder Name?" instead of "Directory Name?" as the prompt when manipulating documents unless you've entered Directory Tree View), or you can type the path name directly, but remember the slashes between layers, even the slash prior to the first folder name. > > If you can't delete the innermost folder in a directory, there are "hidden" files in that folder, so via File Manager>Directory, navigate to the "List of Files" in that directory, hit [SPACE with X], [READ with X] to display the "List of All, Including Hidden, Files" in that directory, SPACE through the list, and when you land on each file, hit [BACKSPACE with dots 1-4], [CONTROL with I], then Y to delete and confirm deletion of the "hidden" files. > > Then, you can delete that innermost folder, and work outwards, repeating the procedure until the whole backup folder is deleted. > > Apologies, I haven't been following this thread from its beginning, but the above is what it sounded as if the situation was about based on this and the subsequent messages on the thread, as well as its subject line. > > HTH, > Maria > > ___ > To leave the BrailleNote list, send a blank message to > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > To view the list archives or change your preferences, visit > http://list.pulsedata.com/mailman/listinfo/braillenote > > > > -- > No virus found in this incoming message. > Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. > Version: 7.0.308 / Virus Database: 266.10.2 - Release Date: 4/21/05 > >
