Lisa, I use Earthlink in a similar manner to yours and I don't foresee any problems with your current system.

Does anyone think this will or won't work? Thanks for your feedback. Okay the current situation is I use Earthlink to receive my email. So the pop server and the inbox are earthlink. The Smtp is my local service provider. Confusing yes but it works. So I get my Internet access from my local ISP and my emails go out through my local ISP but under my earthlink email address. I use the Etheernet card to access my email and Internet. Now here's where I need the feedback. Everything works fine under the current confusing system. I will be going to visit my family at the end of July. I have an email account on my old PC at home that is set up through my mother's local dial-up ISP. What I am hoping to do is to set up in the BN's directory of services the settings for Mom's ISP so I can access the Internet and my email while I am visiting. That way I could still use the BN to access my email. I am thinking of leaving the pep server under Earthlink because well the BN seems to work fine with the SMTP being different from the pop server here shouldn't it work the same somewhere else? I would be using the BN's internal modem to dial up with Mom's ISP. Will this theory work or am I headed for trouble? The only thing I have set to Earthlink right now is the pop server. I don't know how much more detail I need to go into to explain this. I am hoping this makes sense. If this will work please let me o. If anyone foresees problems with my idea please let me know what I can expect and any ideas on how to fix these problems before they become problems. I probably won't get the information set up in the directory of services until I am actually visiting my parents. Thank you for your time and your help.
