Actually, I haven't experienced the horror you describe in your message below 
with my voice note.  I'm sorry that happens to the rest of you.
If the system seems to be taking too long, I use that h-chord command to hear 
the status, and if I think the system should have worked more quickly, I'll 
follow the instructions given to abort the process, go to main menu, do a 
reset, go back into the inbox, remark the emails, and let the system do its 
thing, as I described in my other message.  It works for me.  The system will 
beep for the minutes it's working, and I can always find some little thing to 
do while I'm waiting.
