It would also be interesting if we could figure out which files were not
needed so we could delete them. I suppose they don't take up much space,
though.

Okay, I'm in the Keysoft system disk, and it is the default.wav file I
heard when I locked up with 6.1; haven't had occasion to try email with
6.11 to see what it does. The gong I heard yesterday was the
exclam.wav. I'd be interested to know from PDI if these specific sounds
can tell us anything about what's happening with our units, or if it's
just Windows CE doing its thing. I don't recall hearing all these noises
in earlier versions. They're fun, and I'd like to learn what they can
tell us, if anything.

The reason you haven't heard most of them is because they come with
Windows CE but are not used by KeySoft. Some are, though, like the
infbeg.wav, infend.wav, and infintr.wav files, which you will hear when
an ActiveSync session begins, ends, or is interrupted respectively.
Another example is the startup.wav file, which is the chime you hear when
performing a Reset.
Yet another example is the default.wav file (can't remember if that was
there prior to v6.1, I believe it was but could be wrong) which one would
hear when their BN would lock up while attempting to send an e-mail with
a long message body via a dialup connection in v6.1 if they attempted to
press a key once the unit had locked up (or at least that was my
experience), and, with v6.1, the default.wav file is also heard after the
chime if a [dots 4-5-6], [J-K-L keys] Reset is performed (what Peggy
refers to in her post.
Finally, I believe the "gong" sound Peggy described is the exclam.wav
file in the Windows folder of the KeySoft System Disk. Not sure, of
course, because I didn't hear it, but just a guess.

Maria
