You can also translate a .brf file to a .txt by using the export feature. You don't have to convert it to a KeyWord document. I've done it myself.

The "Translate between Braille and Text" option allows you to translate between KeyWord Braille and KeyWord Text. The "Export File" option allows you to translate from KeyWord to a non-KeyWord Type (.brf, .txt, .doc, .rtf, .wp5), and the "Import File" option allows you to translate from a non-KeyWord type into a KeyWord Type. You can translate between KeyWord Braille and KeyWord Text directly through the "Translate between Braille and Text" option, but if you wanted to translate, for example, a .brf file into a .txt file, you would have to import the .brf file into a KeyWord Type, then export as text. Also, when you are working in a document, you can save a copy as another type directly from within the document (translation is done outside the document). Also, to translate from .brf to .txt in the previous example, you could create an ASCII text file and insert the .brf file, which would create ! : a text copy. By default, all new documents are created as KeyWord Braille on the BT or KeyWord Text on the QT unless you change this setting, but you can choose to create a document as a different type on a document-by-document basis without having to change the default settings. FYI, KeyWord is the BN's own proprietary word processor. : : HTH, : Maria : : >----- Original Message ----- : >From: "Sara" <[EMAIL PROTECTED] : >To: "Braillenote List" <[email protected] : >Date: Mon, 12 Jul 2004 13:06:18 -0500 : >Subject: Re: [Braillenote] Braille translation and keyboard size. : : >Thank you everybody who answered my questions about translation and : >keyboards. : >Can I translate and backtranslate documents without embossing or printing : >them? : >I think I will go for the BT then, as pressing a function key with the : >numbers would drive me mad. smile : >Thanks for all your help. : >Sara : : : ___ : To leave the BrailleNote list, send a blank message to : [EMAIL PROTECTED] : To view the list archives or change your preferences, visit : http://list.pulsedata.com/mailman/listinfo/braillenote :
