Dear Donna, I read many books with my vn, both in brf and txt format,
although I do not specifically have access to the web Braille site.
I've never had a reading crash using the book reader, but I have noticed
that speech stops fairly often, when one reads continuously using the
word processor. Even then, the curser remains where it stopped and one
can just continue by pressing space with g.

Something that does happen to me using the book reader though, is that
speech sometimes stops for about 20 seconds, then usually reads the next
sentence and stops again and then proceeds normally. It never happens
in the first fifty pages of a book, but I was never thrown out of the
document; not even when I read till the battery dies. When I then plug
in the charger, after about thirty seconds, it just goes on where it
left off before. I've never in the 20 months I own the bn, used that
function to talk the battery down. I prefer to read something
worthwhile to run it down and reading has the same function than that
crazy sentence.

To save battery power, I copy one or two books at a time to the my books
folder on the flash disk and remove the cf card, reading only from the
flash disk.

Subject: re: [Braillenote] unexplained reading crash

Hello all,

I've had many reading crashes with my VN. I only read Web Braille books
with my machine, so had been wondering if it was just maybe something
having to do with Web Braille.

I usually have to do a reset and then go back into the book and find my
place. Wouldn't you know? It always happens when I'm totally
interested in a book, and am busy doing something while listening. I've
been lucky in that I remember what the last few words were when the
machine hung, so I have been able to find my place easily.

Donna
