Hi Anita and list,

The BNS640 or BNS2000 for that matter are very small! They both use the Echo Speech which is very monotone! If small size is important to you, I'd recommend the BNS 2000 over a 640 since one can more easily interface it with a computer or printer than one can a 640. The 2000 has more memory as well. If small is very important to you, then I'd say the BNS 2000 would be a good choice!

I think the Braillenote or Voice Note has much better speech! As I pointed out in a previous post, one can brouze the web or send email with either a Braille Note or a Voice Note. If small isn't an issue and you would like more ability with your notetaker, a Voice Note would be a better buy for the money since it has more capabilities than the BNS640 or 2000 and I would say the 2000 is the better of those two notetakers. One can purchase a Voice Note or a Braillenote for that matter with either a Perkins Style Keyboard or a qwerty keyboard. Even if you purchase a Voice Note with a Perkins Style Keyboard and you decide you would rather have a Qwerty keyboard, this can be changed at Humanware for you even though you bought your unit with a Perkins Style Keyboard. If you buy an FS product, you are stuck with the Keyboard you buy since the qwerty unit is a separate model and the braille unit is yet another model. The Keyboards can be changed if you chose the wrong one in the Braille Note Family of products. Another possibility is the Braille Note PK. I'm told it is smaller than my M20. I understand one cannot print or emboss a document with a PK unit but it is small and has the ability to work with wireless networks. It has a braille display which brings up the price. It is certainly something to think about. One would need to use a card adapter or windows sync to transfer files from the PK. I don't have experience with the PK. I understand older Packmates which were voice only units can be purchased from FS. They might be reasonable units to consider if you merely want a speech unit. The older Packmates have a removeable battery! This is no longer the case with newer Packmates from what I understand.

Hi List,
I know the Braille-Note has a Braille display, but is that the only
difference between it and the VN? Is it possible to do e-mail with all
versions of the VN? How does the VN compare to the BNS 640?
